OK so for the record I voted RM first, Legomymalfoy second and jay maynard 3rd. And There is a certain candidate who is really fecking me off right now. Talk about over campaigning jeeeees! Not to mention I find one of their posters incredibly racist. But hey ho.

A friend of mine wants to spend 3 months abroad doing volunteer work. He's left himself very little time to organise this. Can anyone think of agencies where he'd not have to pay thousands of pounds to get a placement? He's particularly keen on english as a foreign language placements.

There's an online petition on the Voices Against 377 website that I’ve just signed which is gathering protests about a particularly nasty bit of legislation that is part of Indian Law.

Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code reads as follows:

“377. Unnatural Offences.
Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.”

Voices Against 377 is a coalition of Indian Non Governmental Organisations and progressive groups based in Delhi. The coalition is campaigning against Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code because it effectively criminalises consensual sexual acts that happen in private and is frequently used as a stick to beat the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

The law stigmatises and criminalises LGBT, hijra, kothi and other queer people and has been used by the police to intimidate people and has been a source of human rights violations.

I got the following from wwf scotland volunteers and thought maybe some people on flist would be interested:

I am recruiting potential volunteers for a television show in which people agree not to buy anything (except basic food, toiletries and medicine) for 6-12 months. The show will investigate shopping addiction, consumer culture, debt, and the impact of consumerism on the environment.

The volunteers would be encouraged to barter, forage, or trade skills to procure the extra things they needed. The presenter, Robert Llewellyn (currently undergoing his own year of not buying anything), would serve as an encouragement to the volunteers, providing any support and resources needed.

This show is not meant to be an exploitive journalistic piece about irresponsible people- it is meant to help people all over the UK by encouraging them to stop unnecessary spending. This show is my baby- I have always dreamed of re-starting a bartering culture/economy and helping the environment. I know it could have a really encouraging impact on the UK.

So that was the date which wasnt. Again. I dont know whats wrong with me. I keep meeting lovely people who are really incredible and I cant do anything about it. What do you call someone who is bisexual, likes sex and cuddles and all that stuff but doesnt actually like the thought of doing it? Its very strange. Maybe its an asexual bisexual?

She's lovely, cute, into lots of the same things as me, incredibly nice, really likes me and actually doesnt mind my health related icky stuff and is very hot but yeah I think we'll stay friends.

I'm messed up. Seriously.
